Entering its 25th season, the Sam Smith School of Dance offers an incredibly balanced philosophy to dance instruction where proper dance technique and discipline are taught in a fun, warm, and nurturing atmosphere. The students at the Sam Smith School of Dance carry their learned poise, stage presence, and self-confidence into the other areas of their lives. Many parents have commented on the improvement of their children in regards to speaking publicly, performing in plays and concerts, or playing various sports. Parents have attributed this progress to the dance classes that their children take at the Sam Smith School of Dance. Through and through, the Sam Smith School of Dance lives up to its motto: A studio where the student gains self-esteem through the ability to dance!
The studio was opened by Sam Smith in 1993 and quickly grew because of Miss Sam’s infectious love of dance and passion for life! In 2014, the studio was purchased by Karen Frampton who had known and worked with Miss Sam for many years prior. Miss Karen is a graduate of Dance Masters of America’s Teacher Training School and is certified by written and practical examination to teach all forms of dance. She grew up taking dance at a local Western New York studio since the age of 5 and began teaching her own classes in high school. Miss Karen is experienced in teaching all ages and levels of dance and has also choreographed for several local high schools’ musicals. She makes it a point to attend several dance conventions each year to stay current in her technical approach and learn the most recent trends in choreography. Miss Karen also has a Master’s degree in speech-language pathology and is a New York State licensed speech-language pathologist. Miss Karen’s diverse and numerous experiences with children make her an ideal choice to be your child’s dance instructor.
The Sam Smith School of Dance has a NEW location at 2455 Niagara Falls Blvd. in Amherst (next to Classics V). Our new studio is triple the size, offering 3 fully functioning dance studios and ample parent and student waiting spaces. The annual recitals are held in the auditorium at Sweet Home High School in early June.
